Kapit police searching for robber who fled with RM600

KAPIT, Aug 9: Police are on the hunt for a man who is alleged to have robbed a retail shop of RM600 last night.

Kapit district police chief, DSP Freddy Bian said in the incident at about 9pm, a 35-year-old female shop attendant and a male staff were about close shop when the suspect suddenly showed up.

“The suspect told them that he wanted to reload RM5.50 credit into his phone and handed over RM6 to the male staff,” he said.

When the staff opened the cash register machine to give back the change of 50 sen, the suspect took out a 7-inch knife blade and jumped up on the counter.

“The staff tried to stop him from getting the money in the machine but was attacked,” Freddy said.

The suspect then fled with RM600 taken from the shop.

DSP Freddy said the police are now looking for the suspect who was described as wearing brown jeans, a black jacket, a motorcycle helmet, and a face mask.
