KAPIT, Dec 8: Malaysia needs more leaders like Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to drive development, modernisation, and unity, says Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Nanta, who is also the Works Minister, said Abang Johari has shown the best example in putting aside political differences and uniting to ensure a stable federal government can be established for the good of the people and the country.

According to him, Abang Johari also showed extraordinary personality and wisdom which have been translated through his leadership in steering Sarawak under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“His forward-thinking approach in shaping the future of Sarawak has also been admired by friends and opponents. In fact, on the world stage, Abang Jo’s leadership and vision have received extraordinary attention,” he said during the 100th-anniversary celebration of the Kapit Peacemaking Agreement today.

Meanwhile, speaking on the event, Nanta said the unity among the various races in Kapit today resulted from the peace achieved 100 years ago.

He also said that a peaceful environment allows people to focus on progress, innovation, and development.

“Of course, education and other infrastructure developments also need to move in tandem to ensure Kapit’s population does not lag.

“Many efforts have been implemented by the Sarawak and federal governments, and on that basis, I, on behalf of all the people of Kapit, would like to express my deepest gratitude,” he added. — DayakDaily
