KUCHING, July 10: Federal Works Minister and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has approved two key projects, a drainage system project and the installation of an awning, for Rumah Tang Anak Siput in Nanga Banyau, Baleh, Kapit, as the longhouse prepares to serve as the second stopover for the 2025 Safari Rakit Baleh-Kapit.

During a recent surprise visit, Nanta expressed satisfaction with the longhouse’s preparations, describing them as highly organised and warmly received by residents who are eager to host the signature river event next year.

“We found that not only were the preparations highly satisfactory and progressing smoothly, but the longhouse residents were also very excited to host the event, which has become an annual affair in Kapit,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He noted that although he was unable to attend the June 12 celebration at Rumah Tang due to other unavoidable commitments, his follow-up visit was a show of support for the community’s role in hosting the event.

In his brief address, Nanta praised Tuai Rumah Tang for the longhouse’s proactive leadership in development planning and for working closely with government officers to coordinate efforts on the ground.

In support of the upcoming event, Nanta also contributed cash assistance to the Rumah Tang Women’s Bureau to facilitate preparations for the Safari Rakit Baleh-Kapit 2025. — DayakDaily
