Kapenas Sarawak to stage another picket on July 22 in Bintulu, Miri & Kuching

Sarawak Kapenas held a picket on Monday afternoon (June 24, 2019) at Paragon, Bintulu.

KUCHING, July 4: Kesatuan Kakitangan Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) Sarawak (Kapenas Sarawak) will be holding another picket in three different towns simultaneously on July 22 (Monday).

According to Kapenas Sarawak’s memo to its members today, the picket will be held from 5 to 6 pm at Paragon of Bintulu, Petronas Office of Lutong, Miri and Wisma Naim of Kuching.

In the memo, members participating are requested to wear yellow T-shirt with black badge.

The Secretary General who issued the memo stated that a meeting will be called on July 16, 2019 to conciliate the dispute between Petronas and Kapenas Sarawak.

“While we are hopeful of a successful outcome, we must be prepared to take further actions if management refuses to listen to the members in Sarawak,” said the Secretary General.

The 722 Picket of Kapenas Sarawak will be the second one held by the union of non-executive staff of Petronas.

The first one was held at Paragon, Bintulu on June 24 where the members expressed their resentment to the “one size fits all offer” from Petronas where Kapenas Sarawak claimed that its members were “pressured” to accept a lower salary increase compare to members of four other oil producing states.

Responding to the picket, Petronas expressed regrets that Kapenas Sarawak proceeded with the picket despite being presented with a “competitive offer”.— DayakDaily
