KUCHING, July 21: Kesatuan Kakitangan Petroliam Nasional Berhad Sarawak (Kapenas Sarawak) has postponed its second picket which is initially slated to be held in three different towns simultaneously tomorrow.
According to its memo, the management of Petronas and executive committee of Kapenas Sarawak attended a conciliation meeting called by the Industrial Relations Department on July 16, 2019.
Both parties had agreed to meet again on July 24, 2019 for further deliberation.
“As a respect for the ongoing conciliation process, we will postpone our picket on 22 July 2019 until further notice,” said the memo signed by its Secretary General.
Kapenas Sarawak initially planned to hold a picket from 5 to 6 pm in three towns – Paragon of Bintulu, Petronas Office of Lutong, Miri and Wisma Naim of Kuching.
Prior to this, Kapenas Sarawak had successful staged a picket at Paragon, Bintulu on June 24, 2019.
The purpose of holding the picket was to express resentment to “one size fits all offer” from Petronas where Kapenas Sarawak claimed that its members were “pressured” to accept a lower salary increase compare to members of four other oil producing states.— DayakDaily
