MIRI, March 16: Residents of Kampung Lereng Bukit, affected by the landslide earlier this year, are urging the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to provide clarity on the promised RM1,000 cash aid.

Awang Mohidi Awang Alam, whose home was damaged in the disaster, expressed the community’s frustration over the lack of updates.

“Since January 28, we have completed and submitted all the necessary forms for the affected residents,” he said when met during a breaking fast event hosted by Miri Technical College on Saturday.

“However, we have yet to receive any financial assistance from NADMA. There has been no feedback, no clear development regarding the RM1,000 aid. People in the village keep asking about it.”

He added that those who have raised the issue with various parties were also unable to obtain clarification on the matter.

“We still do not know the status of the aid. We don’t even know who to ask because NADMA does not have an office in Miri,” he said.

According to Awang Mohidi, 13 houses in the village were affected by the landslide, and all the affected families have applied for assistance.

“We are urging NADMA to provide a definite response so that we are not left in uncertainty,” he said.

“The residents desperately need financial aid to help rebuild their homes, which were damaged in the disaster.”

The landslide in Kampung Lereng Bukit occurred on January 28, causing severe damage to several homes.

Following the incident, affected residents submitted applications for financial assistance from NADMA.

However, almost two months later, the affected residents are still waiting for a response regarding the promised aid. – DayakDaily
