Kampung Bunuk Cluster records 136 Covid-19 cases as total climbs to 236

KUCHING, Aug 14: The existing Kampung Bunuk Cluster near Jalan Puncak Borneo in Kuching here has swelled to 236 after 136 more Covid-19 cases were recorded, while no new clusters were detected in Sarawak today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, reported that there are still 228 active cases in the cluster which are in isolation and are being clinically monitored by the State health authorities.

The Kampung Bunuk Cluster is among the 10 active clusters in Sarawak that have registered an increase in infections and contributed a total of 165 cases to the daily caseload today.


The remaining clusters are the Sega Cluster in Bau which added 10 more cases, Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster in Bintulu (7 cases), Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong (4 cases) and the Kampung Pulo Ulu Cluster in Kuching (3 cases).

The Kampung Paya Mebi Cluster in Kuching, Melikin Cluster in Serian, Braang Payang Cluster in Kuching, Sungai Menok Cluster in Beluru and Taman Indah Landeh Cluster in Kuching added one case each.

As no active clusters ended today, the number of active clusters in Sarawak remains unchanged at 99.

Meanwhile, SDMC also announced that the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be enforced on the workers quarters of Yuk Juan Transportation Sdn Bhd in Bintulu from now until Aug 26.

The lockdown for Mega Jutamas Sdn Bhd at Ulu Suai, Niah in Subis and Rh Peter at Kampung Rapak Penyau, Pantu in Sri Aman have also been extended from Aug 15 to 21. — DayakDaily
