KUCHING, April 19: The Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association Sarawak Branch will be one of the targeted 105 contingents comprising 3,150 participants, including 12 main cultural troupes, in the State-Level Gawai Dayak Parade 2024, revealed its working committee chairman, Billy Sujang.
Billy, who is also Opar assemblyman, announced that the parade would kick off from the vicinity of the Tun Jugah Building and culminate at the Kuching Waterfront, covering a distance of 1.28 kilometers.
“The contingent from the association consists of Sabahans working in Sarawak, and we hope their participation will bring something new and different to the parade this year,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report after chairing the event’s coordination programme meeting today.
Billy highlighted that the parade would once again feature the ever-popular ‘The Bidayuh Ring Lady’, a colorful street performance to enliven the event, along with many decorated motorcades and the ‘Unduk Ngadau’ beauty pageant competition from Sabah.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the event, accompanied by his deputy, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, and the State-Level Gawai Parade 2024 Festival Main Committee chairman, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn. — DayakDaily
