Kabong International Kite Festival 2023 to feature participants from 36 countries

KUCHING, Feb 8: Some 90 participants representing a total of 36 countries, including Malaysia, are expected to take part in the 2023 Kabong International Kite Festival (KIKF), scheduled to be held from March 1 to 6 at Tanjung Kembang Beach, Kabong.

In a press statement, Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said the festival is making its return after it got postponed by the recent Covid-19 pandemic.

“The world is so affected by this contagion and it caused many activities to be affected,” he said at the recent meeting for the Kabong International Kite Festival 2023 held at the N40 Kabong Service Centre Meeting Room.

He said the opening ceremony for KIKF 2023, is expected to be officiated at by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at the Tanjung Kembang Kabong Beach Open House on March 2 at 10 am.

Mohd Chee revealed that almost 300 sales stall lots have been booked through the management of HK Enterprise, Tanjung Kembang Lodge Kabong and T & W Beach Resort Kabong. Sales will start on Feb 24 until March 6.

“The various activities throughout the festival include cultural stages, performances and kite competitions, and the highlights will be the LED Kite show, a fishing competition and tug-of-war (competition).

“I have high hopes that the organisation (of the event) this time will continue to be successful so that Kabong will continue to be known (among the public),” he said. — DayakDaily
