KUCHING, Aug 20: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is offering a 70 per cent discount on all compoundable summonses from Aug 18 to Sept 16, 2021.
JPJ in a statement today, said summonses that are not compoundable involve those with ongoing court cases, including those with arrest warrants or under trial.
āThe discount is being offered to all summonses issued under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334), as well as other rules and orders under it, including blacklisted cases.
āThe reduction on the summons notice is based on the current compound rate available in the JPJ’s mySIKAP system,ā it said.
The offer is also given to all summonses that are still valid provided that the payment is made within the specified period (Sept 16, 2021).
āPayment can be made at all state JPJ offices, branches, Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), kiosk and online payment via the mySIKAP JPJ portal at https://public.jpj.gov.my/.
āHowever, for traffic offenders who have been blacklisted, they are required to present themselves at the JPJ offices (branches or state offices) for the purpose of re-documentation, before any payment can be made,ā the statement read.
JPJ added the discount is aimed to alleviate the burden of the people who have been affected by the economic crisis following the Covid-19 pandemic. ā DayakDaily
