JPJ Miri sets up drive-through counters to ease driving licence renewal

MIRI, Sept 14 : Miri Road Transport Department (JPJ) drive-through counter facility has been set up to ease Mirians in renewing their driving licences.

According to Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the facility which has been rendering services to the public since August 23 this year, aimed to reduce congestion at its main office at Jalan Miri-Bintulu and its branch in Miri UTC.


“we hope that this drive-through service can be extend to rural areas such as Long Lama, Bekenu, Beluru, Marudi and Subis,” he said when met by local media this morning after distributing Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak flags to motorists at the drive-thru in conjunction with the Merdeka month and Malaysia Day celebration at JPJ Miri main office here.

Also present was Miri JPJ chief Maya Morshidi.

The drive-through counters operate daily from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Traffic offenders who have been blacklisted may also check their status or summons payments through these counters.

At the moment, these drive-through counters only accept cash payment.

Meanwhile, on Cansino vaccines, Lee who is also Minister in charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) said that there are still no update yet on the arrival of these vaccines to Miri. — DayakDaily
