KUCHING, March 26: Lundu District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) calls for cooperation from the community leaders to inform the local authority regarding any funeral wakes, gathering and ceremonies being held in the district, to ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance.
JPBD chairman Gustian Durani in a press statement today said the funeral guidelines are among one of the guidelines that have been set in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the district.
“The cooperation from the local community leaders, together with the village security and development committee (JKKK) leaders, and local organisation leaders, is needed for the benefit of everyone.
“As such, JPBD requested for them to comply with the funeral ceremony guidelines and inform the district office or the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) police if there is any funeral ceremony being held in the district,” he said.
On the same note, Gustian said a People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) service must also be deployed in any funeral ceremony being held.
According to him, the deployment of Rela would help to monitor the ceremony situation in each village.
