KUCHING, Oct 2: Johor is tapping Yayasan Sarawak’s education strategies on widening access, strengthening financing, developing talent and building sustainable human capital, as both sides explore ways to strengthen their respective education ecosystems.
The Johor delegation, led by Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali, paid an official benchmarking visit to the Yayasan Sarawak headquarters at Wisma Adenan last Wednesday (Sept 29).
In a statement, Yayasan Sarawak said the one-hour visit provided an avenue for both sides to exchange knowledge and explore strategies that could strengthen Johor’s education ecosystem in line with its “Maju Johor 2030” agenda.
The delegation was received by Yayasan Sarawak director Datu Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin and the foundation’s senior management.
During the corporate briefing, Yayasan Sarawak presented its evolution and achievements under the leadership of Yayasan Sarawak chairman and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Its student support and community welfare initiatives, including free laptops, book vouchers, school uniform assistance, free school transportation and the Sarawak Graduates Return Initiative (iGPS), were also highlighted.
The digitalisation of student services through platforms such as the my-Yayasan application and APPLY@YS portal was another area of knowledge-sharing, alongside cashless payment collaboration with S-Pay Global.
The delegation was further briefed on Yayasan Sarawak’s strategic collaborations with high-tech industry partners, including SMD Semiconductor and the Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC), as well as federal ministries and agencies.
