KUCHING, Feb 20: The Johor government has dispatched a delegation to Kuching for a benchmarking visit concerning Sarawak’s Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) development.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the 24-member delegation from Johor Public Works, Transportation, Infrastructure and Communications Committee led by its chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh paid a courtesy call to Minister of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin at the latter’s office today.
The delegation also attended a briefing and partnership session with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd before embarking on a visit with Lee to the ART warehouse to experience riding the vehicle.
In the meantime, the Johor government is in the process of evaluating the planning for the development of ART or Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Johor.
Therefore, the visit to Sarawak is part of the ‘benchmarking’ of the ART project that will be implemented.
Also present were Sarawak Metro chief executive officer (CEO) Mazli Mustafa, Indonesian Consul General in Kuching Raden Sigit Witjaksono, Johor Public Transport Corporation (PAJ) CEO Abdul Malik Ismail, Johor State Economic Planning Division (BPENJ) secretary Dr Amirul Haffiz Ariff, Southern Regional Public Transport Agency (APAD) assistant senior director Mohd Lufti Ahmad, PAJ chief operating officer Fadzil Abdul Hamid, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) representative, and councillors from Johor’s local authorities. – DayakDaily
