KUCHING, Dec 30: Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai, Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi and Tarat assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn are the three new ministers in Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s new Cabinet following the conclusion of the 12th Sarawak Election which polled on Dec 18.
Sikie is the Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department while Julaihi is heading the Utility and Telecommunications Ministry, while Roland Sagah has been appointed the new Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister.
Sikie will replace the late Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing in the Cabinet, while Roland Sagah is to take up the allocation for a Bidayuh minister, replacing Dato Sri Michael Manyin who retired from politics just before the election.
The new Cabinet just announced by Abang Johari in a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia this afternoon consisted of 10 full ministers and 26 assistant ministers.
For the newly created Chief Minister’s Department Ministry, there are five assistant ministers including Samariang assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Semop assemblyman Datuk Abdullah Saidol (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Jemoreng assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya (Integrity and Ombudsman) and Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat (Native Law and Customs).
For Julaihi’s Utility and Telecommunication Minsitry, the two assistant ministers appointed were Belaga lawmaker Datuk Liwan Lagang and Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
Under Roland Sagah’s Education, Innovation and Talent Development Ministry, the two assistant ministers are Dr Annuar Rapa’ee and Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.
Meanwhile, in another new ministry titled the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Ministry, Abang Johari is the Minister in Charge while Dr Hazland Abang Hipni was appointed as his assistant minister.
Apart from this ministry, Abang Johari is also heading two other ministries including the Finance and New Economy Ministry as well as Natural Resources and Urban Development Ministry.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas maintains his deputy chief ministerial post in addition of being the Second Minister for Finance and New Economy as well as Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development.
For Infrastructure and Port Development, Uggah is assisted by Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo and Samalaju Dato Majang Renggi.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan is retained in the Cabinet as Deputy Chief Minister and kept his former portfolio of Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Ministry where Datu Len Talif Salleh has been appointed as the assistant minister.
He also kept the Ministry of International Trade and Investment. For this Ministry, he has Datuk Dr Malcom Mussen Lamoh as his assistant minister.
Dato Sri Dr Sim Kai Hian is the new Deputy Chief Minister and retains his former ministry of Housing and Local Government except that the ministry has been renamed Public Health, Housing and Local Government Ministry.
His two assistant ministers are Marudi assemblyman Datu Dr Penguang Manggil and Pelawan assemblyman Michael Tiang.
The Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development has been taken over by Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom who is assisted by Bukit Kota assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ismail and Kedup assemblyman Martin Ben.
Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin continues to helm Transport Ministry with Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep as his assistant ministers.
Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah also continues with his former portfolio which has been renamed the Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Ministry. He also helms Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development Ministry.
He has Piasau assemblyman Dato Sebastian Ting and Balai Ringin assemblyman as deputies and for the latter, Layar assemblyman Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu and Lambir assemblyman Dr Ripin Lamat were appointed as his assistant ministers.
Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah continues to helm the Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Ministry. Both Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus and Saribas assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam were appointed as her assistant ministers. — DayakDaily
