Jobless youth gets 5 years’ jail for threatening to kill mother, rape sister

KUCHING, March 1: The Magistrates Court here sentenced a jobless man to five months’ imprisonment for threatening to kill his mother and threatening to rape his younger sister.

The accused, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.


Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi convicted him as charged and sentenced him to five months’ imprisonment, starting from the date of his remand which is Nov 7, 2022.

He was charged with committing criminal intimidation on his 49-year-old mother by threatening to kill her at their house in Kampung Tabuan Selipar Putus, at about 11am on November 3, 2022.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused had asked for money from his mother who refused to give it to him. Subsequently, he threatened to kill his mother and rape his younger sister by saying ‘mun kitak sik berik duit, kamek bunuh kita dan kamek akan rogal adik’ (if you don’t give me money, I will kill you and rape my younger sister).

His mother lodged a police report for further action to protect other family members.
