Jobless man fined RM3,000 for trespassing into Astana, wanting to meet TYT

KUCHING, Nov 12: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a jobless man RM3,000 for trespassing into the Astana as he wanted to meet with Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Mohamad Firdaus Mohamad Ali, 35, pleaded guilty to the charge framed before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.


Magistrate Zubaidah sentenced him to a fine of RM3,000 or in default to three-months imprisonment.

The accused was found guilty of committing criminal trespassing by entering the Astana without permission at about 6.46am on Sept 15.

He was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to six-months or a fine of up to RM3,000 or both upon conviction.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused said he trespassed into the Astana as he wanted to meet with the TYT.
