Jobless man claims trial to gang robbery charge

KUCHING, March 6: An unemployed man pleaded not guilty to armed gang robbery in the Sessions Court here today.

Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff then fixed April 4 for pre-trial case management of the case.


Accused Abdul Mutalib Muala Abdul Rahim was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, to be read together with Section 397 of the same Code, which carries an imprisonment term not exceeding 20 years and liable to whipping upon conviction.

He was charged together with another person who is still at large. They are accused of committing gang robbery with a parang against Noor Amiza Aziz, 18, at a cold storage shop in Jalan Gambier on Feb 24 at about 4.30am.

DPP Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali prosecuted, while the accused was not represented. — DayakDaily
