KUCHING, Dec 9: The Magistrate’s Court in Kuching has extended the remand of three local men for an additional day to assist in investigations into a murder case at an apartment in Jalan Sungai Tapang on December 1.
Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan granted the extension for the suspects, aged between 22 and 25, under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Their remand will now continue until December 10.
Investigating Officer Assistant Mohd Safuan Mohd Nasir filed the request for the extension, which was approved during the court hearing today.
Padawan District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi earlier confirmed the arrests of the three suspects on December 1.
“All suspects are being remanded to assist in the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he stated.
The police were alerted to the incident through a report of a fight at the apartment around 4.40am on December 1. Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department found the lifeless body of a 22-year-old man in one of the rooms.
The victim had multiple slash wounds, and paramedics at the scene confirmed his death. Investigations are ongoing as authorities piece together the circumstances leading to the fatal incident. — DayakDaily
