KUCHING, July 12: The 20km road from Nanga Ngungun to Nanga Jagau and from Nanga Jagau to Ulu Simunjan in Ngemah constituency may be delayed due to the change in federal government after the May 9 polls, the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) heard today.
Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing told Alexander Vincent (GPS-Ngemah) during question-and-answer time that the federal Ministry of Finance (MoF) had approved the project under the Jiwa Murni Programme on March 12 this year.
This meant the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) was to implement the project.
But because of the change in government, Masing said Mindef was now waiting for further instructions from the federal government. This is in compliance with a letter dated June 29, 2018, from MoF with the following reference: S/K.KEW/PK/MOF/D/00JLD.10.SK.6(14).
“This project is classified under Category B (medium critical rural infrastructure) and has to be referred again to the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) for further consideration,” said Masing, who is also deputy chief minister. — DayakDaily
