The TOYM programme was launched by Junior Chamber International Malaysia in 1985 to commemorate the International Year of the Youth.

JCI Malaysia then decided to enact this programme as an annual project, Lee said.

“The reason why JCI introduced this award is that we want to provide recognition to outstanding young individuals, thereby serving as inspiring examples and incentives to young Malaysians.

“It is our hope that these individuals forge ahead to greater heights of achievements in the spirit of selfless dedication for the further development of the community,” he added.

Organising chairperson Esther Khor said the award presentation ceremony will be held on Oct 19, 2020 in Kedah.

“The are five general guidelines that the judges will base upon in picking the winners. They include exceptional achievements and contributions of nominee and the extend which it will benefit the community and the nation.

“How nominee’s achievement and contribution has lived up to the JCI creed ‘that service to humanity is the best work of life’, and how nominee’s achievement of leadership may inspire others to strive to their fullest potentials,” she added.
