KUCHING, Feb 18: The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) has been acknowledged as a Technical Department by the Federal government.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the acknowledgment also includes the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak and Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID).
“The recognition is to enable departments under the Sarawak government to implement Federal government projects in State,” he said when officiating at the JBALB Appreciation Ceremony here on Friday (Feb 17).
Julaihi pointed out that although the recognition is very much welcome, it also comes with a big challenge.
He explained that it is because recently; Sarawak government has been given permission to implement any project under RM50 million from the Federal government.
“But based on JBALB’s experience, I am confident that this challenge can be met,” he added. — DayakDaily
