KUCHING, Sept 18: Taiyo Yuden (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd plans to further expand its multilayer ceramic chip capacitors plant at Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone, with completion targeted by October 2028.
In a press release, the proposed A2 expansion was announced during a courtesy call by Taiyo Yuden Sarawak representatives, led by Kuching Japan Club president Sakai Kazue, to Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED), Wisma Sumber Alam, Petra Jaya, here on Thursday (Sept 17).
Taiyo Yuden Sarawak director Shinozaki Yoshihiko was also present during the meeting.
The expansion is expected to create high-quality employment opportunities, strengthen human capital development, and contribute to regional economic growth, further reflecting the company’s confidence in Sarawak as an investment destination.
Awang Tengah expressed appreciation for Taiyo Yuden’s continued commitment to Sarawak since 1994, when the company began commercial production of axial lead inductors, multilayer ceramic chip capacitors, and multilayer ceramic chip capacitor elements.
He also reaffirmed the Sarawak government’s support for Taiyo Yuden’s continued expansion and acknowledged the company’s role in strengthening Sarawak’s industrial ecosystem.
The meeting was also attended by MINTRED advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, MINTRED deputy permanent secretary Lo Sheau Sia, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Sarawak director Jona Kerani.
