KUCHING, Oct 8: Mohamad Ghazali Jeman, popularly known as ‘Jalot Jeman’, is re-elected unopposed as the president of Persatuan Anak Seni Sarawak (Anak Seni) for the 2022-2024 term.

This was among the resolutions that transpired yesterday from the Anak Seni’s General Meeting held at the Kamek Empun Production office in Matang.

Jalot said being re-elected as president symbolised the trust given to him to lead Anak Seni in bringing the development and contribution of the arts industry in Sarawak to greater heights.

“Even though we in Sarawak are not as good as our Peninsular counterparts, the team and I will work hard to close the gap with the hope of producing more local talents,” he said in a statement today.

Established in November 2019, Anak Seni aims to develop three elements of arts, namely music/singing, dancing and acting, under one umbrella.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the association has halted and postponed various activities and plans.

The association organised many proper training and development workshops for the local talents and youth alike, including production management, basic storyline, basic acting, and so on.

Earlier this year, Anak Seni’s main agenda included the premiere of the Sarawakian-produced telefilm titled ‘Misi’ and the physical staging of the musical theatre titled ‘Sayang Sarawak’.

“With the pandemic now over, Anak Seni will get back on track with our next programme to be held in collaboration with Sarawak Arts Council (SAC) and funding from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP),” Jalot added.
