MIRI, June 2: A total of eleven food stalls next to Public Bank at Jalan Cina here were destroyed in a fire in the wee hours today.
A team of seven Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel and eight firefighters from Lopeng fire station arrived at the scene at 3.17am after receiving a distress call at 3.09am.
According to Miri Zone 6 fire chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong, when they arrived, the firefighters discovered the fire had already razed 80 per cent of the area.
It took them less than 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
No injuries or casualties were reported and the cause behind the fire has yet to be determined.
At least four of the stall owners were also at the scene. — DayakDaily
