KUCHING, July 29: After a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the grounds of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Headquarters will be abuzz with food, lights and entertainment once more as the much-anticipated Kuching Festival Fair (KFF) 2022 is set to open to the public tonight.
Themed ‘Kuching’s Best Creative Food and Culture’ this year in line with Kuching City’s recognition as a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy, the event will run for three weeks until Aug 21.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian is expected to officially open the event on Aug 2 at 8pm, which will be followed by a fireworks display in the vicinity of the MBKS Jubilee Grounds at about 9pm to mark the start of KFF 2022.
People will be able to choose from a vast selection of food, drinks and desserts and a blend of traditional, local, fusion and international flavours offered by 323 stall operators on the fairgrounds located at MBKS’ Community Hall.
Those craving for local Chinese heritage food can also check out the stalls operated by Kuching Hainan Association, Kwong Wai Siew Association, Teochew Association, Sarawak Chawan Association, Hin Ann Association, Kuching Foochow Association, Hokkien Association and Sarawak Hakka Community Association.
The Indoor Trade Fair will feature 90 booths exhibiting a wide variety of products including technology-related, machineries, fitness, telecommunication, furniture, household, clothing, accessories and many more.
Familiar rides, games of skills and garden display will also be returning for families to enjoy.
In addition, there are plenty of shows, programmes and activities to keep people entertained throughout KFF’s three-week run including free health screening and a lucky draw offering three top prizes of motorcycles worth RM22,070.
To enter the draw, patrons will need to first register at https://kuchingfestivals.com/ where a barcode will automatically be generated which the public must scan each time they enter the fair. — DayakDaily
