KUCHING, April 12: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) will implement the Maximum Price Scheme to control the price of goods during the third phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period from April 15 to 28.
Senior Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri said that this is to prevent any irresponsible party from increasing the prices of supplies.
“Thus, it was decided in today’s meeting that KPDNHEP will implement their Maximum Price Scheme, as a measure to curb irresponsible businesses from increasing their prices.
“The list of products under the scheme will be announced later by KPDNHEP,” he said.
He also added that previously the scheme was only implemented during festival seasons, but the government has decided there is a need to implement it in the coming third phase of the MCO.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also disclosed that the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, together with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have a special hotline to address domestic and child abuse cases during the MCO period.
He said the public may also report directly to the police and action will be taken based on the report received.
“For anyone in need of assistance in this matter, they can contact Talian Kasih at 15999, or via WhatsApp at 019-2615999,” he added.
Touching on hairdressing operations, Ismail Sabri disclosed that the Ministery of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will review all opinions and suggestions over the matter.
According to him, Miti will come up with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on this matter.
“To my understanding, there is a process involving this matter, which requires them (operators) to apply for it…. this decision (to give or deny) is up to MITI,” he added. — DayakDaily
