KUCHING, Oct 13: Temporary price controls for chicken and eggs will be lifted, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the supply of chicken and eggs is now stable, and the market price is below the controlled ceiling price.

“Since February 2022, the Government has borne RM3.8 billion for chicken and egg subsidies.

“The original purpose of this temporary subsidy was to control the skyrocketing prices of chicken and eggs as well as address the shortage of supply,” said Anwar when tabling the Budget 2024 in Parliament today.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will make a more detailed announcement in the next two weeks. — DayakDaily
