KUCHING, Nov 23: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang is urging the Sarawak government to upgrade and refurbish the Bintulu indoor and outdoor stadium, which is the one and only public sports facilities available in the area at the moment.

He said youths of Bintulu have complained that they have no place to organise sports activities ever since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There are a lot of talented youths in sports in Bintulu, for example the frisbee team who became champion in the recent Thailand International Frisbee Tournament.

“However, they cannot use the public facilities to conduct their training. Instead, they have to spend money to rent other private facilities to train,” said Pang in his debate on the Supply (2023) Bill, 2022 at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.

He therefore looks forward to the RM47 million allocation from the Sarawak Budget 2023 for sports facilities and various sports development programmes in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
