KUCHING, Oct 7: The Institute of Contemporary Leadership (ICL) is planning several new initiatives to strengthen leadership development in Sarawak, including efforts to establish the State as a global leadership tourism hub and introduce dedicated leadership programmes for youths and communities.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, the plans were highlighted during a courtesy call by ICL on Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at Astana Sarawak today.
The delegation was led by ICL chairman Emeritus Professor Dato’ Abang Abdullah Abang Ali, who briefed the Governor on the institute’s latest developments and future direction in strengthening contemporary leadership in Sarawak.
Among the developments highlighted was the Professional Certificate in Contemporary Leadership (PCCL), with its third cohort completing the programme in Markfield, United Kingdom, on Sept 19.
The cohort also gained exposure through a strategic collaboration with the Oxford Character Project at the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford.
The latest cohort included participants from Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia and the Philippines, reflecting the programme’s growing regional reach.
ICL also outlined plans to further expand leadership development programmes beyond formal professional training, with a focus on engaging young people and communities while promoting Sarawak as a destination for leadership-related learning and development.
In addition, efforts to strengthen strategic collaboration with the Leadership Institute for Sarawak Civil Service (LISCS) and Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) will be further intensified to strengthen the State’s overall leadership ecosystem.
