KUCHING, Sept 28: Political secretary to the Premier Tan Kai has assured that the malfunctioning streetlights near the flyover and traffic light junction at 7th Mile here will be repaired as soon as possible.

He said this after leading an investigation team to the site consisting local community leaders Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, Kapitan Lee Tho Fund, engineers and contractors from related parties today.

“According to Sarawak Energy engineers, the street lighting cable was damaged by a Pan Borneo contractor during construction works and due to the attribution of responsibility, the rectification work was delayed,” he said in a statement today.

Following some discussion, Tan said, Sarawak Energy agreed to desptach a few technicians to help the contractor to redirect the power source and resume the street lighting within the shortest time possible.

Prior to this, it was reported that street lights across several stretches along Jalan Penrissen as well as the main traffic light at Jalan Liu Shan Bang and Lorong Liu Shan Bang 7 have not been working.  — Dayakdaily
