SIBU, April 23: The public and holidaymakers leaving their homes for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration should inform the police at the nearest police stations so that patrol can be conducted in the vicinity to prevent criminal activities like burglaries and break-ins.

New Sibu District police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili wants to strengthen the security in the town so that residents can live in peace and harmony.

“Do inform us at the nearest police station so that we can conduct monitoring around your house (neighbourhood),” he said.

Speaking to reporters during a Berambeh Bersahur programme with orphans of Peryatim Sibu today, he emphasised that he wants to ensure that the security of the town remains top notch.

“My main focus is to ensure public safety and security for the town in line with the core duty of the police force. We also want to deliver the best service to the people,” he said.

On the programme, Zulkipli said it was to bring joy to the residents of the home during this fasting month.

“This is one of our programmes for the under-priviledge group so they too can feel being cared for. We will hold a similar function in the near future,” he added.

He also presented duit raya to 55 children of the home.
