Industrial Training Institute Serian completed, to welcome students in 2025

KUCHING, Sept 19: The Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Serian, which has been completed, is set to welcome students starting next year.

In a news report by TVS, Malaysia Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said that ILP Serian is the third such institute in Sarawak and the 33rd in Malaysia.

He disclosed that the institute is currently awaiting the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC), which is expected to be finalised in October.

“This ILP can accommodate approximately 600 students. We anticipate that enrollment for the first semester will begin in January 2025,” he told reported after paying a courtesy call on Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Sim described the establishment of ILP Serian as excellent news for all Sarawakians, as it will serve as a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, training highly skilled workers in the region.

For the record, ILP Serian follows ILP Kota Samarahan and ILP Miri as the third institute in Sarawak.

During the courtesy call, Sim extended an invitation to Abang Johari to attend a cheque presentation ceremony from the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) to the Sarawak Technology Excellence Centre (Centexs).

This collaboration aims to enhance education and skills training in Sarawak and across Malaysia.

The ceremony is scheduled for Oct 5, 2024, at Juma’ani Pavilion and is expected to be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. — DayakDaily
