Indonesian worker dies in collision at oil palm plantation

MIRI, June 11: An Indonesian man was killed on the spot after the vehicle laden with oil palm fruit he was driving went out off control and crashed into an oil palm on Wednesday morning (June 10) in Suai.

The deceased, identified as Kamaruddin Amir, 35, was alone when the incident occurred, said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.


The incident took place at an oil palm plantation in Suai, Niah around 11.30am.

“The body has been brought to Miri hospital for post mortem,” said Lim.

Lim said, the deceased had lost control of the vehicle while on his way transporting oil palm fruit to a nearby factory.

Following the incident, the deceased was crushed between the vehicle and the tree.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.—DayakDaily
