Indonesian jailed six months for consuming drugs

KUCHING, March 15: An Indonesian man was sentenced to six months’ jail today when he pleaded guilty to consuming Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.

Magistrate Faelly Jeffrey Lanjungan accepted accused Ismel’s guilty plea and ordered that his jail sentence starts from the date of his arrest.


The magistrate also ordered Ismel to be referred to the Immigration Department for further action and to be deported back to the place of origin after serving his sentence here.

Ismel was found consuming Amphetamine and Methamphetamine at Padawan Narcotics Office on Feb 4, 2019, at about 2pm.

He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 15(1), which carries a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding two years.
