13 nabbed in drug raid in Miri

The suspects are currently being detained to facilitate Nada’s investigation.

MIRI, March 15: Thirteen people were rounded up by the National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) Miri on suspicion of drug abuse in three different locations in the wee hours today.

Among those arrested were a 37-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife. They were picked up at Lembah Hijau.


Nada Miri chief Mazlan Jikran told DayakDaily that the couple was among the 12 tested positive for `syabu’. The other suspect tested positive for ketamine.

He said the raids were first conducted in Taman Tunku, followed by Lembah Hijau and later at Kampung Tiris in Bekenu.

Mazlan said personnel from People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Subis District joined in the raid that began around midnight and ended at 3am today.

The suspects are currently being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependents (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983. — DayakDaily
