KUCHING, June 19: Police and health officers successfully tracked down an Indonesian couple who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 but later went missing from their workers’ quarters.

According to Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail in a statement, the Indonesians identified only as Darussalam and Hasanah were found at the road side of a new housing area along Jalan Matang Baru at about 11.15pm.

“Following the arrests, the couple was immediately sent to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment and further action,” he revealed.

The Indonesians underwent Covid-19 screening tests by the Ministry of Health on June 16 as part of the conditions to work on construction sites.

When the test results came back as positive, MoH personnel immediately went to the workers’ quarters at Petra Jaya on the evening of June 17.

However, the couple had already fled the scene, prompting MoH officers to lodge a police report. — DayakDaily
