MIRI, Feb 16: Contraband beer and cigarettes with unpaid duties of RM225,959.11 was seized by General Operations Force (GOF) personnel from the Miri 12th Batallion from a premises in the city centre yesterday afternoon.
The seizure was made during an operation dubbed Ops Kontraband Brigade Sarawak 12th GOF around 12pm.
This was disclosed by Miri GOF in a post on their Facebook page today.
A total of 762 cartons of white cigarettes, 320 cartons of clove cigarettes, 4,419 cans of beers and 123 bottles of liquour was found inside the premises during the raid.
Three individuals, including a woman believed to be the premises caretakers were also detained for questioning.
They were brought to Miri Central Police station (CPS).
The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967. — DayakDaily
