KUCHING, July 27: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) believes that there are many like Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei within Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Its information chief Datuk Idris Buang opined that it is the ā€œcultureā€ within DAP that has caused many to feel so.

ā€œI believe that YB Wong Kim Wei is sincere in giving his reasons for resigning and I think there are many more in DAP like him.

ā€œDAP’s kind of personal attacks as reportedly described by King Wei in his statement is the kind of political culture that Sarawakians must avoid as it is repugnant to our peaceful multicultural harmonious setting,ā€ Idris told DayakDaily.

Idris was commenting on Wong quitting DAP.

Declining to be renominated as the DAP Padungan candidate, Wong announced his resignation from the party last night (July 26, 2020).

In his statement, Wong revealed he had to announce his resignation now as the Sarawak election is around the corner.

He expressed his disappointment over DAPā€™s refusal to listen to any dissenting voice and lack of inclusivity in opinion and viewpoints as well as the partyā€™s failure to fulfil its promises when it helmed the government for 22 months.

Idris, who is also the Muara Tuang assemblyman agreed that during the 22 months Pakatan Harapan (which DAP was a part of) was in power, DAP failed to fulfil its promises.

ā€œOne of the things that he (Wong) said which pointedly drives home an important point for Sarawakians to note is ā€” ā€˜During the 22-month rule under Pakatan Harapan (PH), what we said in front of the people and what we promised the people seemed to have gone down the drainā€™.

ā€œI therefore humbly urge Sarawakians to stick through thick and thin with GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) as we have a lot to work together for the betterment of Sarawak.

ā€œOur interest towards a better future and that of our future generations are best served by a sincerely dedicated and committed yet better experienced, well-tested, efficient and visionary coalition of Sarawak-owned GPS.

ā€œOnly GPS has a properly structured spectrum of carefully thought out transformative development plans and strategies, all towards a progressive and better future for Sarawak,ā€ Idris asserted. ā€” DayakDaily
