KUCHING, July 27: Three families lost their homes after a fire consumed three houses at Kampung Hulu, Beladin, Pusa last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) despatched a team to the scene immediately after it was alerted to the incident at 8.25pm.
According to a statement from the State Bomba operations centre, the scene of the fire is 53km away from the nearest fire station. The Bomba team had to take a ferry ride at the Pusa jetty in order to reach the scene.
The Bomba team also faced difficulties in locating the nearest fire hydrant when they arrived at the scene. They managed to overcome the problems and brought the fire under control at 10.28pm.
All three houses were razed 100 per cent. No one was reported injured during the fire.
The Bomba team ended the operation at 1.30am. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. -Dayak Daily
