KUCHING, Aug 15: Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang has criticised London-based Sabah secessionist Doris Jones for hyping the negativity of Sabah and Sarawak so that she and her movement can get free funding from the western non-governmental organisation (NGOs) to achieve their goals.
Idris opined that Jones’ fight and struggle are akin to an old folklore or the story of “a boy who cries wolf”.
Idris, a lawyer by training, said Jones’ struggle was not on the right legal footing in the first place and her movement did not have the true picture of the history of Sabah and Sarawak.
“Although she has quite a many western human rights activists, they seem not to know much about Sarawak and Sabah’s history and et cetera.
“In fact, they are oblivious about Malaysia and the ‘special position’ (of) Sarawak and Sabah have after achieving independence through the formation of a Federation of Malaysia,” he said in a statement.
Idris thus called on the public not to believe in the publicity created by Jones. — DayakDaily
