Iban songstress Doris Juan laid to rest

KUCHING, Jan 11: Iban singer Doris Juan was laid to rest at the Prutan Anglican Cemetery in Siburan today.

Born in 1950, the recording artist gained recognition in the 1970s for her rendition of Bee Gees’ ‘To Love Somebody’ in Iban titled ‘Aku Tetap Nganti’.

She was also known for other classic hits like ‘Tu Ka Reti Semaya’ and ‘Berasai Padam Ati Aku’.

Her voice, which used to be aired on the Iban Radio back then, entertained listeners of the era.

Doris passed away at the age of 74 on January 9 at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) due to natural causes.

She is survived by her siblings Samson Juan, Albert Juan, Eleanor Juan, and Caroline Juan.

She also had an elder brother, Valentine Juan, who died in 2015. — DayakDaily
