KUCHING, April 30: Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin today made it clear that he intended to defend his seat in the 15th General Election.

He said as the incumbent, it was only proper for him to defend the seat.

“As the incumbent, I feel it is not correct for me if I don’t defend the seat (Puncak Borneo) in the coming general election.

“So as the incumbent, I will definitely contest (in the coming general election),” Willie, who is also Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, told reporters today after officiating at the ‘Puncak Borneo Women’s Day’ celebration at Kpg Bratan Community hall, Jalan Borneo Height.

Willie declined to dwell further on the seat which belongs to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, which the party’s deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah mentioned recently.

“On that, I do not want to say more. I’ll cross that bridge when I reach it, and time will tell,” Willie added.

Political pundits are anticipating that the general election will be held this year and several aspiring PBB candidates from the three state seats under Puncak Borneo, namely, Serumbu, Mambong and Tarat, have started moving on the ground. — DayakDaily
