KUCHING, Aug 1: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg reiterated that his presence during nomination day for the Peninsular Malaysia state polls was to support the unity government.
He was responding to a reporter’s query on if Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will send its machinery to assist their Malayan counterparts in the six state elections.
“We won’t send our (GPS’) machinery. I was there to support the unity government as what’s important is political stability and implementing policies that will determine Malaysia’s direction moving forward,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after launching the 35th Kuching City Day celebration at Kuching Waterfront today.
The Premier further elaborated that the Madani concept shares similarities with Sarawak’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“Malaysia needs to become a competitive country that is also friendly to investors. The country’s challenge is changing its energy from fossil fuel to renewable (energy).
“This is because if the energy used will cause pollution, financial institutions will be reluctant to fund projects, and I see the federal government changing to that direction,” he said.
