KUCHING, Nov 10: A total of 116 graduates from i-Systems College’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Programme were conferred their diplomas at a convocation ceremony held at the Islamic Information Centre (IIC) yesterday (Mov 9).

The ceremony was officiated by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

In his opening address, Wee emphasised the significance of early childhood education and educators’ role in fostering not only preparation for primary school but also holistic development encompassing a child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs to establish a robust and comprehensive foundation for lifelong learning and well-being.

“This perspective aligns with MBKS’ Child-Friendly City policy, developed in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

“Childhood educators play a crucial role in shaping the personal development of children from a young age, enabling them to evolve into compassionate, capable, and responsible citizens in the future,” he said in a media release.

Congratulating the graduates on their accomplishments, Wee reminded them of the myriad possibilities their future holds, including exploring careers as childhood educators, kindergarten teachers, caregivers, or even childcare centre operators.

The Early Childhood Education graduates constitute a part of the 310 graduates from i-Systems College who received their diplomas in various programmes during the convocation spanning two days that commenced on Nov 8.

The first session celebrated the graduation of 194 students from eight programmes, including diplomas in Occupational Safety and Health (34), Medical Assistant (19), Nursing (19), Healthcare Management (44), Electrical Technology (16), Welding Technology (11), and Automotive Technology (6).
