KUCHING, May 12: An electrical technician was charged in the Subordinate Court today for making a false police report because he was afraid of getting scolded by his wife.

The man, 31, was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making a false police report.

No plea was taken. The case will be mentioned on June 3, 2021.

He was allowed to be released on court bail of RM2,000 with one local surety.

According to the police report that he lodged on May 3, 2021, the accused said he was robbed by two unknown men while he was about to put his stuff in his car parked behind Siang Siang Corner, Jalan Matang, at about 4.30pm on May 3, 2021.

He said he was robbed of his sling bag and a gold necklace around his neck.

Upon police investigation, it was found that there were inconsistencies in the accused’s testimony.

He then admitted he was lying because he was in debt and had pawned the gold necklace, but he was afraid he would get scolded by his wife. — DayakDaily
