2 workplace Covid-19 clusters detected in Kuching dubbed the Consortium Bumi Cluster, Kemas Cluster

KUCHING, May 12: Two workplace clusters have emerged in Kuching today involving an office in the city centre and a government office at Jalan Puncak Borneo.

The cluster which was detected in the city centre has been dubbed as the Consortium Bumi Cluster by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) which, broke out at an office at Jalan Tun Jugah.


A total of 84 individuals linked to the cluster were tested for Covid-19 and eight of them, including the index case, tested positive, a statement from SDMC explained.

The test results of the rest of the 76 individuals had returned negative results.

The other workplace cluster, named the Kemas Cluster, involved a civil servant working at a government agency at Jalan Puncak Borneo, Kuching.

SDMC said a total of 70 individuals had been sent for Covid-19 screening and 10 of them, including the index case had tested positive for Covid-19.

The rest of the 60 individuals tested negative for the virus. ā€” DayakDaily
