KUCHING, July 27: Infant Federick Jali Entia from Kuching, who was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries four days after birth, is in dire need of a RM80,000 arterial switch operation to survive.
Federick’s parents who cannot afford the expensive surgery fees to correct the birth defect affecting his heart, are appealing for public donations for their beloved newborn son, so that he can undergo the operation in Kuala Lumpur where the necessary equipment is available.
Malaysia Da-Ai Social Crowdfunding Association person-in-charge Danny Tan said Federick’s situation is critical and the heart surgery to reposition the boy’s arteries properly cannot be delayed.
“The mother, Entia Nyantau, is 27-years-old and a housewife. She takes care of three children at home, including baby boy Federick Jali.
“The family of five depends on the father, Naga Alap for support. He is a mechanic with a meagre salary.
“It is already very difficult for him to support the family, and he is unable to cope with Federick’s operation fee,” he said in a statement today.
To help the desperate family, Tan said a crowdfunding campaign was launched to collect donations for Federick.
“We sincerely hope that the enthusiastic public can support our crowdfunding so that the baby boy can recover as soon as possible,” he added.
Donations may be banked into Persatuan Kebajikan Amal Da Ai Malaysia’s AmBank account (Acc no: 8881047120904) with the reference “Case 1500”.
