Fire at SMK Mukah destoys boys’ dormitory


MUKAH, Oct 21: A fire broke out at SMK Mukah today, destroying about 20 percent of the three-storey boys’ dormitory.

Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement said they received the emergency call at 2.09pm.

Twelve firefighters from Mukah fire station were dispatched to the scene.

According to operations commander PBK I Abd Rasit Morni, the fire occurred at the upper floor of the building, which houses 168 male students.

By 3.04pm, four of the rooms were affected but firefighters managed to control the fire from spreading further.

No injuries were reported as all the male boarders manage to evacuate on time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
