KUCHING, Oct 21: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has launched the Consumer Economic Shop Initiative (I-KeeP) to keep the prices of essential goods low to lighten the burden of the rakyat.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Chong Chieng Jen said the ministry encourages more supermarkets to take part in I-Keep to offer more essential goods at more affordable prices.

“Our ministry will continue with this initiative where the ministry works with the private sector to offer more affordable prices for essential goods to lighten the burden of the rakyat.”

He hoped more stakeholders will take part in I-KeeP so that more affordable prices for essential goods can be offered.

He disclosed this during a press conference after closing the three-day ‘Buy Malaysian Products’ campaign and Hawkers and Small Traders Day celebration at MJC Square.

He said, KPDNHEP launched the campaign to encourage Malaysians to buy goods that are made in Malaysia to benefit local entrepreneurs.

“The carnival will be continued next year and be brought to other states. Our next stop is in Johor.” — DayakDaily
